Each year the National Hip Hop Competition will change its rules in order to continue to challenge producers to step outside of their comfort zone. This year’s battle will have 2 competitions; The FREESTYLE BATTLE and The ARRANGEMENT BATTLE.
Contestants will be required to participate in both battles. Each event challenges the producers to excite the crowd and impress the judges in a different way.
FREESTYLE BATTLE:
This battle follows the rules of a traditional beat battle. Producers are each given 60 seconds to play an original beat they have created. 3 beats, 2 producers and 1 winner!
ARRANGEMENT BATTLE:
This year the National Hip Hop Competition has created a new style of beat battle with the ARRANGEMENT BATTLE. In this battle, producers are given 4 minutes to arrange their beats into a collage of music and sounds. Producers are encouraged to be as creative as possible. Diversity in style, sonic quality, battle samples and disses, and continuity in the overall presentation will determine the winner of this battle.
The Arrangement Battle requires producers to put together a 3-4 minute set of their own original beats.
The Arrangement Battle set must follow these requirements:
- At least 3 minutes long, but no longer than 4 minutes.
- Must Contain at least 3 original compositions or beats ( more are encouraged )
- Must be mixed down to one MP3 or WAV file
The winner of the 23 city tour will receive a beat production studio… May the best man win!
